Open Casting Call in Birmingham, Alabama for featured Extras and Background Actors for film "Lifted"

Hunter Films and Coronet Films production of the feature film "Lifted" will be holding an open call for featured extras and background extras on Sunday, August 9, 2009. They will be looking for people of all ethnicities from age 12 and up to portray townspeople and audience members at a fictional singing competition for teens: "Alabama Star Quest". For that portion of the film, casting will be looking for teenagers 13-19 who sing and play. Teens should come prepared to sing and perform one of the songs listed below (a capella), or a completely original song they have written themselves. No accompaniment will be provided. Families and friends will be needed to portray the audience to cheer and give support. Those interested in participating should attend the open call and bring a recent, non-returnable photo with them on the day of the call.

Songlist:

- Danny Boy
- Give My Regards to Broadway
- Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen
- Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
- Take me out to the Ball Game
- National Anthem

Writer-director Lexi Alexander (“Hooligans” w/Elijah Wood and last year’s “Punisher: War Zone”) will be at the helm for "Lifted". Her film “Johnny Flynton,” nominated for an Academy Award for best live-action short film in 2003, was shot in and around the Birmingham area. That Alabama experience and Hunter Films drew her back to the area for this latest production. The film was written with Birmingham and Alabama in mind. It will also reunite the team with Dash Mihok, who starred in “Johnny Flynton.”

Lifted tells the story of a young Alabama boy who shares his father’s passion for R&B music. Just before he is to sing in a contest in Birmingham, his father is called up for a tour in Afghanistan. Father manages to reunite with son in time for his big performance.
