Legendary Pictures is in production on the major feature film "42" starring Harrison Ford. The casting directors are holding additional open casting calls for people in Alabama and Tennessee who would like to work as extras on the film. Additional extras casting will take place in Atlanta and Macon, Georgia. The movie will be filmed in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee beginning in May, 2012. Shooting locations include Chattanooga's Engel Stadium and Luther Williams Field in Macon, GA. Extras of all ages will be used in the film, however the open calls are for extras 18 years of age and older. Previous open casting calls took place in Birmingham, Alabama and Chattanooga, Tennessee. The open casting calls are for people who did NOT attend the previous calls.
The film is based on the life story of Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman) and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford). Former "Law & Order: SVU" star and Primetime Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni will play Dodgers manager Leo Durocher, and Jon Bernthal of the TV series "The Walking Dead" will play Dodgers pitcher Ralph Branca. Nicole Beharie will play Jackie Robinson's wife Rachel.
Academy Award Winning filmmaker Brian Helgeland will direct "42" from a screenplay that he wrote himself. Legendary Pictures’s Chairman and CEO, Thomas Tull, is producing, and Legendary’s Chief Creative Officer and President, Jon Jashni, serving as executive producer. Dick Cook, former Chairman of Walt Disney Studios, will also serve as an executive producer. Legendary worked early on in development with Robinson’s widow, Rachel Robinson, to maintain authenticity of the movie adaptation of the famed player’s story.

Story:
"42" is a a biopic about former baseball star Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman). "42" refers to Jackie Robinson’s uniform number, which was retired by Major League Baseball in 1997. Robinson, who was born in Cairo, Ga., broke baseball’s color barrier in 1947 when he played first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was named baseball’s first Rookie of the Year that season, and later, the award was renamed in his honor. In his second season, Robinson switched to second base and primarily played that position for most of his 10 seasons. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962, the first black player to be enshrined. In 1999, he was elected to baseball’s All-Century Team.
