Extras casting call for 'Diary of a Teenage Girl'

Filming on  Diary of a Teenage Girl is taking place in the beautiful Bay Area.

The indie feature film Diary of a Teenage Girl has sent out an extras casting call seeking people to appear in the movie as paid extras.

Caviar Films, Archer Gray Productions, and Cold Iron Pictures are now in production on this drama based on the graphic novel 'The Diary of a Teenage Girl: An Account in Words and Pictures' by Phoebe Gloeckner. The film follows a teen artist named Minnie (played by 21-year-old British actress Bell Powley) living in 1970s San Francisco who enters into an affair with her mother's boyfriend. Academy Award nominee Kristen Wiig plays the mother, and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee Alexander Skarsgård plays the boyfriend.

The extremely talented Bay Area native Marielle Heller is directing Diary of a Teenage Girl from an adapted screenplay that she wrote herself. Heller, who is also a highky trained and accomplished actor, previously adapted the novel for theatre. Heller's husband, Primetime Emmy Award winner Jorma Taccone of SNL Digital Shorts fame, is executive producing along with Cold Iron Pictures VP Amanda Marshall, Archer Gray Productions CEO Amy Nauiokas, and Michael Sagol of Caviar Films. Producers are Madeline Shapiro, Miranda Bailey, Anne Carey, and Bert Hamelinck.

Minnie's diary details the loss of her virginity to Monroe, her mother's less than devoted boyfriend. She falls in love with him, though he continues to sleep with Minnie's self-absorbed, drunken mother. A hellish adolescence follows: Minnie's kicked out of various schools, has promiscuous sex and ends up on the streets, strung out and obsessed with a young lesbian who pimps her out for more drugs.
