Michael De Luca Productions in now ready to begin filming the new Universal Pictures feature film "Dracula", and the casting director has issued an urgent casting call for people interested in appearing in the film as fully paid background performers in epic battle scenes. Principal acting roles are also being cast during production. This new film depicts Dracula as a flawed hero with a tragic love story set in a time of war and magic. Shooting is taking place in the United Kingdom from August 18, 2013 through November, 2013.
The story chronicles the epic origin of Dracula, weaving vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad the Impaler, repositioning him more as a vengeful hero than the monster seen in Bram Stoker's classic novel. Universal Pictures "Dracula" follows real-life historical figure Prince Vlad of Transylvania, known as the inspiration for Dracula, as his wife and child find themselves in danger from a despicable sultan. He risks his very soul to save them, and that's the origin story of the first vampire.
Starring in "Dracula" is Welsh actor Luke Evans playing the lead role of Prince Vlad of Transylvania/Dracula. Evans has had stage roles in such productions as "Rent," "Miss Saigon," and "Small Change and Piaf". His film credits include "Immortals," "The Three Musketeers," "Clash of the Titans," and "Fast & Furious 6". Is is also starring in the upcoming films "The Crow," "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," and "The Hobbit: There and Back Again". Also starring in "Dracula" is Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee Dominic Cooper, and Young Artist Awards nominee Sarah Gadon.
Celebrated TV commercial director Gary Shore will direct "Dracula" from a screenplay written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Two-time Academy Award nominee Michael De Luca will produce under the banner of his production company Michael De Luca Productions. Alissa Phillips will co-produce for Michael De Luca Productions. Universal Pictures will handle domestic distribution. Universal Pictures International will distribute in various global markets.
Universal Pictures 'Dracula' Casting Call Details
The extras casting director is seeking people to work as fully paid background performers on the Universal Pictures feature film "Dracula". Casting at this time is for men only who live in Northern Ireland and are over 18 years old. The production is urgently looking for men from every ethnic background, and in particular those that are olive/swarthy skinned and could be part of an "Ottoman Army" consisting of multiple ethnicities who will be involved in a number of exciting action and battle sequences.
Production is casting the following ethnicities or people who can pass for them:
• Mediterranean
• Turkish
• Greek
• Mixed race
• Latin American
• Middle Eastern
• African or Afro Caribbean
• Olive/Swarthy skinned
• Asian
