Free 'The Business of Background Acting' Workshop for Michigan Residents

There is currently a large amount of filming that takes place in the State of Michigan due to the tax incentives given to the studios. The growth of the film industry in Michigan is expected to continue indefinitely. One of the top extras casting agencies in the state is offering free workshops for the community, giving people the opportunity to learn the ins-and-outs of working as a background performer in film and television.

This is the 10th workshop JR Galactic will host in Michigan. They have been praised by members of the Screen Actors Guild, Producers Guild of America, and the Michigan Film Office for preparing Michigan residents for work on a professional set.

Producers hire JR Galactic for Extras Casting support because they know their Talent is prepared and reliable. Thanks to the program, their Extras have proper set etiquette and arrive on set early, with the correct wardrobe and attitude. Participants of the workshop have priority casting consideration with JR Galactic.

Story:

Billy Beane, general manager of MLB's Oakland A's and protagonist of Moneyball, had a problem: how to win in the Major Leagues with a budget that's smaller than that of nearly every other team. Conventional wisdom long held that big name, highly athletic hitters and young pitchers with rocket arms were the ticket to success. But Beane and his staff, buoyed by massive amounts of carefully interpreted statistical data, believed that wins could be had by more affordable methods such as hitters with high on-base percentage and pitchers who get lots of ground outs. Given this information and a tight budget, Beane defied tradition and his own scouting department to build winning teams of young affordable players and inexpensive castoff veterans. Hill will play Beane's statistics-savvy assistant Paul De Podesta.

These students couldn't wait to graduate and head out into the real world. But the world they were entering got very real very fast. As these classmates return home to revisit their old hopes for their future, they'll discover that, even if you don't get exactly what you thought you wanted out of life, it’s not too late to get what you need.
