Extras open casting call for Major Universal Pictures film in Louisiana

Tom Cruise Project Extras Casting Call

This Tom Cruise starring vehicle will hit theaters on theaters July 19, 2013
AB Media Publishing, LLC

Universal Pictures is currently holding an open casting call for extras to work on a major feature film with a $100 million dollar budget starring Tom Cruise. Background performers who wish to be considered should attend the casting call, however emailed submissions are being accepted also. Shooting will take place mostly in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Additional filming will take place in Los Angeles, New York, and the country of Iceland. Principal photography will begin on March 19, 2012 and continue through August 12, 2012.

American television commercial and feature film director Joseph Kosinski will direct the film which is based on the graphic novel called "Oblivion" that he wrote himself. The title of this film was originally the same as the novel, then was being called "Horizons", and now is being referred to as "Untitled TC" or "Untitled Tom Cruise Project". In August 2010, Walt Disney Pictures acquired the rights to "Oblivion", but attempts at a PG rating were unsuccessful and Universal Pictures acquired the rights. Academy Award winning writer William Monahan and Karl Gajdusek wrote the first drafts of the script, with final rewrites by Academy Award winning scribe Michael Arndt.

Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark are producing through Chernin Entertainment, along with Joseph Kosinski, Steve Gaub, and Radical Pictures's Barry Levine. Jesse Berger, Executive Vice President of Radical Studios, will executive produce with Dave Morrison. Radical Studios has an impressive lineup of future film projects including the DreamWorks SKG Sam Raimi directed Sci-Fi "Earp: Saints for Sinners," the Bryan Singer directed "Freedom Formula," the Sam Worthington starring vehicle "Damaged," and the Brett Ratner directed action adventure "Hercules: The Thracian Wars".

"Untitled Tom Cruise Project" is a love story that is set against a post-apocalyptic landscape. It's about a soldier who's been court-martialed and as part of his punishment, he’s sent to patrol this planet and maintains a fleet of droids and probes that comb the surface, searching out a primitive alien race that’s been defeated. When he discovers a mysterious woman who left on a science mission 60 years earlier and crash lands, the two must traverse a chain of events that unfolds extreme mystery and adventure.

Starring with Tom Cruise is the beautiful Ukrainian-born actress and model Olga Kurylenko, who plays his right-hand woman and lover. Olga Kurylenko, best known for her role as Bond Girl Camille in "Quantum of Solace", has carved out an impressive acting resume with roles in such films as "Max Payne," "Land of Oblivion" which she also executive produced, "The Expatriate," "Empires of the Deep," "Seven Psychopaths," and a recently wrapped untitled Terrence Malik film. Gorgeous British actress Andrea Riseborough will play the Mysterious Woman who crash lands on Earth. Riseborough, who trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, is a rising star who's credits include "Resistance," "Shadow Dancer," and Madonna's Academy Award nominated film "W.E." Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman will play the role of Malcolm Beech. After a massive online talent search was conducted looking for an unknown talent, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ended up being cast as Sykes. Coster-Waldau is a regular on "Game of Thrones".

Story:

Centers on Django (Jamie Foxx), who is a slave along with his beautiful Germanspeaking wife (Kerry Washington) on the Carrucan Plantation where she suffers abuse at the hands of the Brittle Brothers - Big John (M.C. Gainey), Elvis (Tom Savini) and Roger (Cooper Huckabee). Big John Brittle rapes Django's wife, Broomhilda, before branding Django's cheek with the letter "R," which stands for "Runaway". She is later separated from Django and sold. Django becomes freed from the Carrucan Plantation, and under the tutelage of German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), who is tracking Big John and his two brothers in order to collect a large reward, becomes trained and deputized as an equally cut-throat and eagle-eyed assassin himself. Schultz teams up with Django, who helps him find and identify the Brittle Brothers. Then, after assisting the bounty hunter in taking down some bank-robbing murderers that have a price on their head, he’s helped by him in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from evil Plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). To add to this a bit, the verbose German bounty hunter, Dr. King Schultz is empathetic to Django’s cause as he’s rather sickened by all the racism and slavery around him. After dispensing with the aforementioned bank robbers, posing as lawmen, Django explains his mission is to find his wife in the last place she was sold: Greenville, Mississipi. Schultz, more aware than the cavalier Django that this solo mission is one of sheer suicide, concocts a plan to train and then help him, as they masquerade under the pretenses of a duo who are looking to buy Mandingo fighting slaves. Calvin Candie purchases these fighting slaves to compete in underground, bloody and savage "Mandingo" fights to the death. Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) is a sadistic trainer who readies Candie's male slaves to fight in these death matches. What then transpires is a long, circuitous journey around the South in search of Broomhilda, Django’s slave wife and several encounters with hick, racist plantation owners (Don Johnson, Tom Savini, Gerald McRaney) that culminates at the Candyland plantation, the owners of which are part of a secret society that acquires African-American female slaves as girlfriends.
